Yağmur Damlaları Boşa Gitmesin- Let's not Waste a Single Raindrop

Çamlık Hacıbağ Ortaokulu olarak öğrencilerimizle birlikte “Yağmur Damlaları Boşa Gitmesin” adlı STEM projemizin ilk haftasına büyük bir heyecanla başladık. Çamlık Köyü’nün son yıllarda artan kuraklık sorunu, yalnızca günlük yaşamı değil; öğrencilerin okuldaki suya erişimini, hijyen koşullarını ve çevresel farkındalıklarını da doğrudan etkiliyor. Bu projeyle amacımız, öğrencilerimizin hem bu sorunun nedenlerini kavramalarını hem de bilimsel düşünme süreci içinde çözüm üretmelerini sağlamaktı.

İlk dersimizde öğrencilerimizle birlikte kuraklık, iklim değişikliği ve yağmur suyu hasadı konularını inceledik. Videolar izledik, tartışmalar yaptık. Öğrenciler köyde yaşadıkları su sıkıntılarını anlattılar. Yağmur suyunun boşa akmasının önüne geçilebileceğini fark ettiler. Öğrencilerimiz, farklı ülkelerde uygulanan su toplama sistemlerini gördükçe, kendi köylerinde de benzer bir çözümün mümkün olduğunu fark etmeye başladılar.

İkinci dersimizde gruplara ayrılarak bir beyin fırtınası çalışması gerçekleştirdik. Öğrenciler, kuraklığa karşı nasıl çözüm üretilebileceğini düşündüler. Toprağı besleyecek, bitkileri sulayacak ve yağmur damlalarını değerlendirecek fikirler geliştirdiler. Pet şişelerden, damacanalardan ve kullanılmayan malzemelerden bir sistem kurmayı öneren öğrencilerimiz, kendi yaratıcı çözümlerini tasarlamaya başladılar. Grup çalışmaları sayesinde hem fikirlerini paylaşmayı hem de birlikte üretmeyi öğrendiler.

Bu proje, öğrencilerimize sadece suyun önemini değil; aynı zamanda problem çözme, iş birliği ve yaratıcı düşünme gibi 21. yüzyıl becerilerini kazandırmayı da hedefliyor. Önümüzdeki derslerde öğrenciler kendi sistemlerini tasarlayıp kuracaklar. Yağmur suyu nasıl toplanır, nasıl kullanılır, hepsini yaşayarak öğrenecekler.

Projemiz 25 Nisan’a kadar devam edecek. Her bir damla suyu değerli gören bu çalışmayla hem köyümüzdeki doğal kaynaklara sahip çıkıyoruz hem de öğrencilerimizin bilimle çözüm üretme gücünü keşfetmelerini sağlıyoruz.

At Çamlık Hacıbağ Secondary School, we have started the first week of our STEM project titled "Let’s Not Waste a Single Raindrop" with great excitement. In recent years, the increasing drought problem in Çamlık Village has affected not only daily life but also the students’ access to water at school, hygiene conditions, and environmental awareness. Through this project, we aim to help our students understand the causes of this problem and encourage them to find scientific, student-centered solutions.

In our first lesson, we explored the topics of drought, climate change, and rainwater harvesting together with our students. We watched videos and held discussions. Students shared their personal experiences about the water shortages in the village. They realized that rainwater does not have to go to waste. As they saw examples of water collection systems implemented in other countries, they began to understand that a similar solution could be possible in their own village too.

In the second lesson, we organized a brainstorming activity by dividing the students into groups. They discussed how they could generate solutions against drought. They developed ideas that could nourish the soil, water the plants, and make use of rainwater. Our students proposed building a system from plastic bottles, old water containers, and recycled materials, and they began designing their own creative solutions. Through group work, they learned how to share ideas and produce solutions collaboratively.

This project not only teaches our students the importance of water, but also aims to develop 21st-century skills such as problem-solving, collaboration, and creative thinking. In the upcoming lessons, students will design and build their own systems. They will learn firsthand how rainwater is collected and reused.

Our project will continue until April 25. With this initiative, which values every single drop of water, we are not only protecting our village’s natural resources but also helping our students discover the power of scientific thinking and sustainable solutions.
